This fabulous, fashion-forward fall cloche is THE staple piece to every woman’s wardrobe, for fall, winter, AND spring! And, for a lady of any age!
There are 5 sizes for the hat, which include: toddler, child, teen/adult small, adult medium (average size), and adult large. There are also 3 band options. The bands are all knitted with size 5 needles. Two bands are knitted in the round, and on size 5 16-inch circular needles. And, one band is knitted flat/straight, on size 5 DPN’s.
This pattern has two parts: the hat and the band(s). This hat is knitted in the round, on size 6 16-inch circular needles, and with a turned brim. There is a beaded purl edge on the turned brim, that is absolutely gorgeous.
There are instructions (and video tutorials, which include supplies such as stranding needles, beads, what size beads for what weight yarn etc) for all the beads on the hats and bands, pictured.BUT BEADS ARE OPTIONAL! The beaded decreases are absolutely STUNNING, though, I must say!
The gauge for the hat: 5 stitches per inch, and the band: 6 stitches per inch. You will need up to 275 yards of Fancy Image Yarn (DK weight), depending on the size you are making. You will need a small amount of (up to) two accent/contrasting colors. You will need size 5 & size 6 16-inch circular needles, size 5 DPN’s, and size 6 DPN’s. If you choose to use beads, the largest size, with a beaded brim, the beaded cable band, and beaded decreases, you would need 404 beads. That’s the over-the-top beaded everything version, like the purple one pictured. For just a beaded edge on the brim, you will need, at most, 77 size 6 or size 4 beads.
This cloche has a turned brim, that is seamed, separately, on the inside of the hat. There is also a video tutorial for this. Have so much fun creating THE staple piece to your fall wardrobe.
