The Gippsland Beanie
1 Jan 2022
Pattern is now free.
This pattern has been created during the terrible bushfires destroying much of the south east coast of Australia in areas known throughout the world for its natural beauty. Not only have lives been lost but also homes, livelihoods, livestock, forests and an extraordinary number of native animals.
The pattern is both written AND fully charted, including 3 variations for Chart 3. The 3 charts can be worked in any order to create truly individual beanies from just one pattern.
Needles 3.25mm 40cm (16”) circular or DPN’s for brim
4.00mm 40cm (16”) circular, DPN’s for crown
Notions One stitch marker
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Skills Knit through back loop; purl 2 together through back loop; knit 2 together; slip slip knit; lateral braid
Many thanks to my wonderful tester yarnymama for her invaluable assistance and feedback, plus her colourwork variation.

It has been suggested that if wishing to work the honeycomb chart in two colours, that R12&13 (written)/R5&6 (chart) should be worked in the second colour.
ERRATA
26 Jan 2020
Chart 2 Honeycomb, error on round 6. Written is correct but chart should be amended to P3, K1. Library updates sent.
The least I can do, with your help, is to release a pattern where ALL proceeds (after Ravelry and PayPal fees) will be sent to a local Gippsland charity GERF for at least the first two months after release. Amounts and receipts will be posted here on the Ravelry pattern page as proof that I am indeed following through with my promise.
DONATIONS
22 Jan 2020 $100AUD
28 Jan 2020 $100AUD
11 Feb 2020 $50AUD
29 Mar 2010 $45AUD
TOTAL DONATED $295 Huge thanks to those that supported me by making a purchase.
Unfortunately bushfire victims seem to have been forgotten with the current worldwide crisis but if you can help those and others that will lose their jobs please consider donating directly to a charity in your area or knitting and donating items made from my free patterns to keep people warm (heading toward winter here in Australia as I write).
