A little history about grain sack stripes:
The design features stripes found on antique grain sacks. In the past, grain sacks were very useful in transporting a family’s grain to the mill and they were often personalized to be easily identified. Families would have their own stripe design and colors commonly seen in grain sack stripes were blue or red.
About the pattern:
To pay tribute to this classic design, we wanted to bring forth a knitted version of the stripes that so many of us hold so dear. This coaster features the grain sack stripes off-centered, to allow a balanced look over the entire project. The coaster measures 4” x 4.5 “ / 10 cm x 11.5 cm, allowing enough of a surface for most cups.
