Meet the Granny’s Monster, a newfangled monster who still loves the classic granny square look

This monster can be made in any yarn and hook combination you want. Just be certain that the fabric is firm enough that stuffing does not show through.

I used I Love This Yarn! Solids for my monster, using four different colors:

• Graymist (225 yards)
• Turquoise (75 yards)
• Buttercup (50 yards)
• Red (40 yards)

The Granny’s Monster is an intermediate-level pattern. Skills you will need include basic granny square construction, single crochet, single crochet in the bottom of a foundation chain, increases, decreases, and seaming.

This pattern is a little different than other Monster’s Toy Box patterns, but I made sure there were plenty of progress photos to help you along your way to making an snuggly monster. Also included is a photo tutorial on how create child-safe eyes from felt (and teeth!), although instructions for using plastic safety eyes are given as well.
