During World War I, Red Cross initiated knitting socks for the troops.

Australia-wide, local organisations, schools, church groups, knitting circles and individuals banded together to undertake the huge task of providing ‘comforts to Australian troops’.

More than 1 million pairs of socks were knitted during the war.

Size 12 needle is the old imperial size which is 2.75mm/US 2.

While original leaflet is out of print, it has been reproduced in more than one location. See source page for links.
