The Harlingen Girls!
The idea for this sock came from the delight of 2 sisters from Harlingen, Texas, at the hand knit socks made and designed by Prairie Knitter and ED. Because they always made us feel like better knitters/designers than we actually are, we had to do something to repay them. I mean, ego boosts are always welcome, aren’t they.
Had to go all the way back to the drawing board today. Talk about frustrating. The gauge proved to make a sock that was waaaay too tight. I have used this yarn before and relied on a gauged swatch in my swatch portfolio. Why did it not work?
Anyway, the resultant re-design is working up much better and allowed for the lace pattern to be laid in with ease!
Maybe a completed design within the next week! Ready for Etsy sale as a kit for Christmas!
Made it as far as the cuff. Tried one design which seems to work. The problem is the cast off edge needs to have enough ease to make it over the heel, yet snug enough to prevent saggy sock syndrome. Gotta sleep on it.
