The Hexagon Project 2014, motif no 6
This motif is the sixth and last in the series of 6 in the Hexagon Project 2014. The theme for the Hexagon Project 2014 is versatility. . An ebook is also available with all 6 designs.
The first 3 designs were released on 1st February, 1st March and 1st April. These designs are a little more open than the latter 3 and are therefore more suitable for shawls and scarves.
The last 3 designs were released monthly on 1st June, 1st July and 1st August. They are more suitable for blankets and snuggly warm scarves because they are more ‘closed’.
However, all hexagons are designed to be the same size so that they can be joined together, so can all be used in the same project if you wish.
They are written for one continuous colour but can be done in many colours by changing colour at the start of each round. The motifs are suitable for those who can crochet in the round and do include some slightly more challenging stitches than the 2013 project.
The size of each motif is 16 cm (approx. 6½ inches) from point to point in aran weight yarn. But please note that I do crochet fairly loosely. You can use any weight yarn provided you use a suitable hook size.
The last 3 motifs have extra versatility. A smaller version can be made by omitting the last round. The size of this smaller motif is 14 cm (approx. 5½ inches) from point to point in aran weight yarn. There are slightly fewer joining points on this smaller version.
The pattern is written in English and US crochet terms, and is charted.
The ebook contains more information including schematics for layouts of scarves, shawls and blankets, tips on joining and half hexagon pattern and chart.
