The Himalayan Cowl is the perfect beginner knit project. This design uses up less than one skein of yarn and the pattern is easy to remember. The perfect Netflix & Knit cowl!

This cowl is very flexible and you can use basically any yarn. I recommend bulky or chunky yarn to fully achieve the textured look. Whichever yarn you decide to use, go down one size in the recommended needle size. This helps create tighter stitches.

The Himalayan is perfect for winter weather as it tucks quite nicely into coats and jackets. I like to wear mine with the top edge folded in for extra warmth and style!

Materials:

  • 1 Skein of Bulky Yarn (I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick in the photos. I have also tried with Drops Eskimo and it works quite nice as well)
  • Size 13 US / 9 mm Straight Needles (or whatever size recommended for the yarn you are using)
  • Tapestry Needle

Stitches

  • Knit
  • Purl
