Skill Level:
Advanced beginner to intermediate
Sizing:
Finished dish cloth measures 16.5 cm (6.5 in) wide X 22.2 cm (8.75 in) long.
Yarn:
Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4
Fingering weight (#1), 100% cotton
50 g (1.75 oz) and 170 m (186 yds) per ball
Colour A: Jeans Blue (29) one ball
Colour B: Pastel Pink (042) one ball
Please Note: Sport (#2), Dk (#3), or Worsted (#4) weight cotton could also be used but please note that a different size crochet hook will be necessary, the gauge will be different, and the resulting dishcloth will be larger.
Yarn amount requirements:
Colour A: 24 g (0.85 oz) or 81.6 m (89.2 yds)
Colour B: 14 g (0.5 oz) or 47.6 m (52 yds)
Suggested Yarn Substitutions:
Suggested substitutions in Fingering (#1) 100% cotton:
Cotton Kings “Cotton 8/4,” We Love Yarn “Cotton 8/4,” Mayflower “Cotton 8/4,” Scheepjes “Catona” or “Cotton 8,” DMC “Natura Just Cotton,” Paintbox Yarns “Cotton 4 ply,”Schachenmayr “Catania Fine,” Rowan “Summerlite 4 ply,” King Cole “Giza 4 ply,” Phildar “Phil Love Cotton” or “Phil Coton 4.”
Hook:
Crochet hook size 3 mm (US D/3) or size required to obtain gauge. There is no US equivalent for a 3 mm hook, so I suggest a US D/3 which is equivalent to a 3.25mm.
If you use Dk (#3) or Worsted (#4) weight yarn, try a hook in the range of 3.5mm (US E/4) - 4mm (US G/6).
Please Note: Because Tapestry crochet requires tight tension, select a smaller hook than is normally recommended for your chosen yarn.
Notions:
-scissors
-tapestry needle for sewing in ends
-ruler or measuring tape
-pins and mat for blocking (optional)
Gauge:
Using a 3.0 mm (or US D/3) hook and suggested yarn, 28 sts and 21.5 rows per 10 cm (4 in), including the edging.
Please Note: more important than matching gauge for this pattern is choosing a hook size that results in tight enough tension to hide the secondary yarn.
