This blanket was designed for Crochet for Cancer for the March event. You can purchase kits from Afriqueyarns.com. Yarn is sent from South Africa, and international ordrers are possible. There are two colourways - pink and brights. The pattern is versatile and you could come up with any colourway you like. If you purchase a kit the designer commission, in full, will be donated to Crochet for Cancer in Pretoria, South Africa.

Notes:

1. The blanket is made up of 80 squares, laid out in 8 columns by 10 rows.
2. Squares and finishing are worked in the round with RS facing throughout.
3. Each square is started as a circle of three rounds and then squared off. The centre of each square is a color, followed by two rounds of MC.
4. The square is made up of approximately 5g (0.17oz) of each color for the centre, followed by 5g (0.17oz) of MC in the final two rounds. The approximate total of 10g (0.35oz) for each square is inclusive of ends prior to weaving in. Ends were calculated at around 10cm (3.9”) throughout.
5. Standing stitches can be used instead of ch 3 at the beginning of each round, and make for a neater start to the round, as well as neater joins.
6. You should obtain between 9 and 10 squares from a cake of MC and a cake of one of the colors. Since the pattern does not call for all of the yarn, if you wish to make more squares you can add another row to your blanket. Bear in mind the stitch differences if you add additional row(s) for the joins and borders. You might also require an additional ball of MC.
7. When joining, it is useful to begin by marking out the bottom right square with a stitch marker. This will make it easier to identify where you are during joining.
