The Hot Mesh Tank
Construction:The hot mesh tank is knitted top-down. First, you will knit the back yoke, beginning with the back neck and moving down the back shoulders. You’ll then pick up stitches from the back, from which you’ll work down the front yoke in a similar fashion. Once the yoke is completed, you will work flat down each body panel (front and back), all the way to the bottom. From here, the only finishing touches required are to seam together the panels along the sides and then weave in all loose ends. Next thing you know, you’ve got a hot mesh tank, ready to rock!
Difficulty:I’d call this one an intermediate knit (3 out of 5). If you’re new to knitting, you’ll find this funky, but it’s definitely a great one for anyone who feels comfortable with the basics and wants to try out lace work. This would be a great first lace project!
Size guide (bust): This pattern is written for 9 bust sizes, covering all bust circumferences between 28-60 inches. I designed this top to have about 2” (5cm) of positive ease, meaning the finished garment bust measurement should be roughly 2” (5cm) greater than your actual bust measurement. If you’d like a more fitted top, consider 0-2” (0-5cm) of negative ease, meaning the finished garment measurement is 0-2” (0-5cm) larger than your actual bust measurement. If you’d like an especially oversized top (not recommended), consider sizing up.
Size guide (length): Body length is fully customizable, and since the top is worked top-down, you can try it on as you go! For a “standard” length, work the body until it hits about midway down the fly of your favorite pair of pants. For a “cropped” length, work until your garment hits about an inch (2.5cm) short of your navel. General length guidelines are given in the below section.
