When Gran was young, Ireland was still ruled by English Landlords, she remembers families being burned out of their home because the English thought they did not produce enough and were keeping back vegetables for themselves ,she remembers green teeth from eating grass, and she remembers walking in her Mam’s kitchen to find Michael Collins sitting at the table discussing strategy with her father and the father of the man she would marry. The misc stitch represents the burnt out farmers, dismissed and rolled over. The nupps represent the hopes of the people springing up from a voice into a roar to give Irelands people their freedom. The cables represent the love that bloomed at a table of revolt , gave life to my father and my legacy. Sample knit by bluefrog.
