Sometimes I get an idea in my head and I have no idea where it will lead. Such is the story of The Hungry Caterpillar. Usually my inspiration is sparked by a picture or a life experience but this design did not follow the norm. This time my only thought was dots and dashes. It just didn’t fit.
I began knitting anyway. My very creative young friend observed my knitting and proclaimed, “That reminds me of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” The story became complete. I’m guessing a Butterfly design is soon to come.
Lesson learned, a spark can lead to a wonderful collaboration. Thanks, Jen.

Materials
Needles: US 3 (3.25mm) circular 24” cable

Yarn: Anne, CiRCULO, (Fingering, 100% Mercerized Cotton, 3.5oz/100g, 371 yds/339 m) - 1 skein, lime green #5791
Note: Since Cotton is stretchy, the pattern includes adjustments for other fiber choices.

Yardage used: 214-235 yds/176-215 m

Gauge: using US 3 (3.35 mm) 24 stitches/40 Rows = 4” (10 cm) after blocking.

Special Techniques:
Knit & purl, cast on & bind off
Yarn over, K2tog, slip stitches
Working in the round on circular needles

This pattern has been test knit for accuracy.
