The I Love Me Daisy
When I was younger I used to play the game ‘He loves me, he loves me not’. I would pick off one daisy petal at a time while alternating the title’s phrases until I got to the final petal where the truth was revealed - was I lovable? Now because I’m in my mid-forties and know the importance of self-love, I have decided to rewrite the rules. In my version the petals are stuck on because it’s not about whether someone else loves you, but whether YOU love YOU!
Simple Construction
The daisy is knit entirely in the round on dpns (double pointed needles) beginning at the back of the daisy at the stem hole and ending at the flower’s center. There are 2 options for the stem; one is to knit a tube covering for a chop stick, the other is to just use a branch. Both stems are simply inserted into the hole at the back. The petals and flower center are stitched on using embroidery.
Supplies
Chopstick, or branch for stem, tapestry needle, stitch markers.
