This is a pattern for ‘The Irish Lady’ cable socks that I made for my mom, in honor of our Irish heritage. I told her I wanted her to have ‘pretty socks’, meaning that I was going to knit her a fancier pattern on this pair of socks. My mom and our Irish grandmother were the inspiration for this design.

My mom is very much a ‘lady’ in her own right, having also raised my sister and I to be ladies, I felt it appropriate to call these ‘The Irish Lady’ socks. Irish knitters are well-known for their amazing cable knitting and the Aran sweater market, so I wanted to represent where we are from in my most recent addition to our knitwear. I have yet to knit up a pair of these for myself….but these were really just a special gift from me, for my mom

Pattern sizes included are approximately US Women’s size 6-7, 8-9, 9-10.
