The Judith Bell Ruffle Boa
This is a very delicate boa that really makes a statement. It is a real head-turner and also a delight to knit. Especially if you like a long spell of picot casting-off…who doesn’t?
The boa is long and can be worn doubled over and looped through, which gives a delicious 3-layered effect at the back. Or just drape it. The chief feature is the double row of bell-shaped, lace-sided inserts. The centre of the boa uses both the shades of Kidsilk Haze knitted together and this central spine gives the floaty fins a firm structure. The vividly contrasting Kidsilk Haze shades really make it zing. It would work equally well using just 1 shade, or using more muted shades, perhaps. It is knitted sideways, ie, on a long cable needle, used like a pair of conventional straight needles. This is to accommodate the large number of stitches you end up with.
