The Julbock Sweater
An animal that is present in Scandinavian Christmas décor and myth is the Julbock or Yule Goat. The straw goats, wrapped with red ribbon, are derived from Norse mythology and represent good luck and protection. A lightly themed holiday sweater that can be worn anytime!
The Julbock Sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down. Short rows are worked after the collar for a better fit. Increases are worked in the short rows to set up for the yoke chart. Increases are marked in the chart. (Inverse chart provided!) A few more short rows are worked before the sleeve stitches are put on hold. Body of sweater is worked straight down for a universal fit. Sleeves are picked up last and worked down to the cuffs.

NEEDLES/NOTIONS:
Note - you may need different size needles to match gauge
A for ribbing, (one size smaller than B for neck, cuffs, & hem)
16” circular + 32” for magic loop or DPNs. (US 3 / 3.25mm)
B for solid color – 16” – 36” circular, length as needed for body
or DPNs (US 4 / 3.5mm)
C for colorwork (if needed. Most colorwork changes the gauge
slightly so adjust accordingly. I use one size larger). 16” – 36”
circular, length as needed for yoke. (US 5 / 3.75mm)
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, stitch holders/waste yarn
GAUGE:
19 sts x 28 rnds = 4 x 4” – solid color stockinette stitch in the
round after blocking with size “B” needle.
I used a US 4 / 3.5mm
match gauge with colorwork as well (size “C” needle),
I used a US 5 / 3.75mm
