The Katie Tote
This tote bag can be made with as many or as few different colors that you want to use. It is a great pattern for using up your stash yarns. This pattern is not complicated. This pattern uses different stitches for each row. Instructions for lining the tote have also been included. The way I line my bags is the most simple way I have found, I love to crochet, but sewing is a challenge for me.
This tote is worked from the right side only. It is worked in one piece from the bottom up.
Stitch count is extremely important in this project!!
Great news…..since the bag is lined, you do not have to weave in your ends!!! YEAH!!!!
Materials needed:
Yarn in your choice of colors (I used Red Heart Super Saver)
The colors I used for this blue and green tote were all Red Heart Super Saver.
Light Blue
Blue
Royal
Honeydew
Tea Leaf
Medium Thyme
White
US/7 4.5mm crochet hook, or size of your choice. If you use a larger hook, your bag will be a little larger. There is no gauge for this tote. There is no wrong size.
A sheet of plastic canvas to make the bottom of the bag stiff.
Fabric for the lining, I get 1 yard so I have enough fabric to make pockets inside the bag. I use cotton or cotton/poly blend fabrics
I made this tote with crocheted straps. You could also use purchased handles. It is up to you. I like it both ways.
