The Kerri - Newsboy/girl Style Cap
I created this hat pattern for my good friend Kerri who runs a non-profit Bike Shop in Asbury Park, NJ where she takes old, broken and dis-figured bikes and turns them into new-to-you awesome 2 wheelers while teaching inner-city kids the value of recycling and hands-on work in exchange for the wheel they have worked on. It’s a win win situation.
Kerri also opened up her work space to include our Knitting Circle, where we stitched and bitched away many hours.
For more information on her work visit http://www.secondlifebikes.org/
The hat design knits up quickly on size 6.5 mm (US 10.5) needles.
It is especially designed to showcase hand-spun yarn but can be knit up just as well using commercial yarn.
I used about 4 ounces (about 200 yds) of my hand-spun yarn to knit the sample hat displayed in this listing.
Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, half brioche stitch, bind off, decreasing, sewing on button.
Please convo me with any questions.
Happy Knitting :)
