Pattern Description

The Knitted Beret is a fun combination of style and comfort. It looks great made in solids, making the striped pattern standout. Directions are given for four sizes: baby, toddler, child, and teen/adult. This hat is made using worsted weight yarn.

You should be familiar with basic knitting terms, know how to purl and knit, use double-pointed needles, join in the round, work in the round, make increases such as kfb, and make decreases such as K2Tog.

Materials

~U.S. 6 (4.00 mm) 16” Circular Knitting needle

~U.S. 7 (4.50 mm) 16” Circular Knitting needle

~Set of U.S. 7 (4.50 mm) Double Pointed Knitting needles

~Set of U.S. 6 (4.00 mm) Double Pointed Knitting needles (This is only a suggested material for the two smallest sizes, as the cast on number may make it difficult to use a circular needle until the increase round. You can actually avoid using double pointed needles if you know how to use the magic loop method. There are many great video tutorials out there explaining this easy trick. These tutorials recommend a longer circular needle, such as 32” or greater.)

~ Approximately 145 yards of worsted weight yarn (or weight category four) for the adult size; less for the smaller sizes.

~Tapestry or Wool Needle
