The Kraken Shawl
This is the pattern for the Kraken Shawl. Using a wool-blend DK weight yarn, the shawl works up fairly quick, and it is super lightweight and still very cozy to wear. It’s perfect for any outing: wear it as a wrap for a formal event or wear it wrapped up as a triangle scarf for something more casual!
This pattern is written in US crochet terms. To make this pattern, you will need to know the basic crochet stitches (specifically chain stitch and double crochet). Instructions on how to do the filet crochet technique are included with the pattern.
To make this shawl, I used 3 balls of Tahki Alden yarn in deep teal (approximately 700 yards of DK yarn would do the trick).
Gauge is as follows: 7 blocks (4 stitches per block) x 8 rows = 3” unstretched or 4” stretched. For turning, you’ll need 5 chains.
To start, chain 374.
To add a little extra flair to your shawl, add some tassels! Here is a link to my DIY Tassel Tutorial, which shows you how to make tassels for your Kraken Shawl (or for any other project): https://twoheartscrochet.com/2018/04/04/how-to-make-your-...
