The Kumfy™ Kapuze
The Kumfy™ Kapuze is a loose-fitting style of hooded sweater, meant to have a generous ease to allow for several years of wear and layering with other clothing in the cold winter months. Kapuze (pronounced Kah-poo-suh) is German for “hoody”. The button bands at each raglan line at the front are the perfect canvas for embellishment with intricate buttons, but also serve a great purpose! The front collar comes up close to the neck to keep little ones warm from the chill and wind, but the front bodice unbuttons entirely to allow easy dressing over the head without any tugging or pulling.
The garment is seamlessly knit from the neck down. Initially it is knit flat in two pieces- first the front of the bodice, then the back and raglan sleeves before both pieces are joined together seamlessly at the underarms. The rest of the body is knit in the round, as are the sleeves. The hood stitches are picked up from the neck and knit flat at the end.
The pattern contains instructions for altering different aspects so the finished garment can easily be a custom fit.
