The Labyrinth : Jareth, The Goblin King
Inspired by the iconic villain from the classic 1980’s cult movie, The Labyrinth, meet Jareth. The Goblin King played by the one and only David Bowie. So if you find yourself saying things like, ‘You remind me of the babe…’ on a regular basis, then keep on reading. :-)
To say the costumes in the movie are iconic would be an understatement, but we had to chose just one. The outfit in the pattern is based on his costume from the ‘Magic Dance’ scene in the movie.
The pattern has been worked up in aran weight cotton yarn (Brand: Drops Paris), but you could substitute for a different weight/yarn type as long as you change the hook size accordingly.
Materials Required:
Aran weight yarn (Drops Paris) - grey, black, white and beige
3.5 mm crochet hook
9 mm safety eyes (x2)
Stuffing material
Stitch markers and pins (optional)
Cocktail stick and bead (optional, for the cane)
Silver sequin (optional, for the necklace)
Yarn needle
Stitch Knowledge Required:
Magic ring
Chain stitch
Single crochet stitch
half double crochet
Back loops only
Front loops only
Single crochet decrease (sc2tog)
Invisible decrease
The pattern is written up in standard US terminology. The finished piece measures 22-23cm tall (depending on just how wild you want the hair!).
