The Lace and Bloom Square
The Lace and Bloom pattern is full of texture and colour. I came up with the name of the pattern before designing it. I just knew I wanted there to be flowers and lace; flowers and lace are beautiful things. Surely, a crocheted square would be beautiful too.
This pattern is open for interpretation - meaning, you can play with your favourite yarn and corresponding hook, so there is not a particular size that it must be. I am currently designing a blanket from these squares and will release the blanket pattern with all the sizes, yardage, joining and border methods. So ultimately, for this particular square, there is no gauge. As stated in the pattern, if your work is too tight, simply go up a hook size; and down if too loose.
I am using Stylecraft Special Dk for the first time and loving it. Such a soft acrylic yarn.
Materials needed:
Yarn and corresponding hook
Scissors, yarn needle
Blocking material
I weighed a finished square on my Thermomix and it came up with 10grams for a 16.5cm/6.5in one. I’m not sure how exact it is, but the most yarn used would be the squaring colour (aka the lace part). The number of skeins would depend on what you are making.
I used 7 colours in total per circle/square. (In the blanket there are 17 colours) Have a play around with colour with this design, you won’t be sorry you did.
There are photo tutorials and step-by-step instructions and photos for each round.
