The Lady Trainer
This pattern is part of my Sock Tributes II series!
Being born the daughter of the most successful horse trainer in the history of Australian racing certainly comes with its benefits. However Gai Waterhouse decided to follow in her father’s footsteps. Massive expectation and pressure soon followed. Gai was finally granted her trainers’ license and took control of Tulloch Lodge in 1992.
She is one of only a few female trainers in Australia, and by far the most successful. She has flair, a very pleasant personality, never grumbles at the press and is always gracious. Her flair fashion is ever present.
I’d like to thank Linda (aka Condichick on Ravelry) for the inspiration for the Gai Waterhouse socks. They are knit from cuff to toe with a Latvian Twist cast on and a very easy diamond pattern. “I’m sure she would use them on her early morning training jaunts during Melbourne’s dreary winter.” -Linda
