Errata from very early versions: Row 13 should read: K6, k2tog, yo, pm, k1, yo, k2tog, rep from to last 8 sts, pm, yo, k2tog, k6.
Row 14 should read: Knit to marker, sm; work Row 1 of Chart across center 95 stitches, working 12-st rep 7 times, sm, knit to end. Continuing to work 7 edge sts at both sides in garter st … and from here on the pattern is fine.
Additionally, delete st 24 from the left side of the chart.
A shawl and cowl inspired by the whalemen’s quarters below the Pequod’s deck.
The Lamp can be worked as either a cowl or shawl, with either a garter stitch edging, which is worked as part of the main panel, or a simple crochet edging, which is worked after the main panel is complete. The shawl shown has the garter stitch edging, and the cowl shown has the crochet edging.
