The Lieblingscardi
Garment description:
The Lieblingscardi is TEXTURE. HEAVEN! This super fun look
is achieved by using a combination of several ribbing stitches. It is designed to be oversized with balloon sleeves and extra-long neck and hem ribbing! It is seamlessly knitted top-down, which allows you to try it on as you go to pick the perfect length for you. The body is knitted flat, but the sleeves are knitted in the round. Stitches are picked up to work the sleeves and the neck ribbing. Although the pattern calls for bulky yarn, the big needles create a very lightweight fabric, which makes this cardigan perfect for layering. Depending on the fiber you choose, this can be a piece perfect for any weather - from cool summer evenings to colder days!
Sizing:
This cardigan pattern has been written and tested for 8 sizes. Measure yourself at the widest part of your bust and choose your size accordingly. If you are between sizes, I recommend you size up if you are really going for that oversized look or size down if you’d rather make sure it isn’t too big!
A - 71-76 cm (28-30 in)
B - 81-86 cm (32-34 in)
C - 92-97 cm (36-38 in)
D - 102-107 cm (40-42 in)
E - 112-117 cm (44-46 in)
F - 122-127 cm (48-50 in)
G - 132-137 cm (52-54 in)
H - 142-147 cm (56-58 in)
The garment has approx. 18-23 cm (7-9 in) of positive ease.
Size I (152-158 cm/60-62 in) was written but not tested. It is included in the pattern as I believe it is correctly graded after the feedback on the other tested sizes. If you are unsure and would like to knit this size, please reach out to me.
Gauge:
10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) square = 11 sts x 13 rows in garter stitch knitted flat with 8mm (US 11) needles (after wet blocking)
Suggested Needles:
8mm (US 11) & 6mm (US 10) circular knitting needles (preferably interchangeable needles with a small cord and a long cord)
Other materials:
Measuring tape
Tapestry needle
Stitch markers
Scissors
Stitch holder or scrap yarn to hold stitches
Yarn:
Any bulky or chunky weight yarn. This will knit up as an airy fabric. If you’d like a warmer fabric, go for a thicker bulky yarn – approx. 80-90m per 100g. The sample has been done with acrylic, but you can choose whatever fiber you prefer! Wool or wool blends would be perfect to provide more warmth. If using cotton, I’d recommend going for a chainette, ribbon or tape type of yarn. Please note, fluffy yarn will make the texture more subtle.
