Garment description:

The Lieblingsvest is the ultimate statement piece for your closet. This funky vest is designed to have a boxy fit, which makes it perfect to be worn layered. It is worked with two colors, so the possibilities are endless – go crazy with some contrasting colors or keep it simple with a single color in different shades. The vest is worked bottom-up. You will first knit the ribbing flat and then continue working in the round for the main body. The separated hem ribbing & side details give the front and back panels a fun detached look. Once the armholes are reached, you will knit flat once again. Stitches are then picked up to work the 2x2 ribbing on the sleeves and V-neck, which are designed to be extra deep – adding to the drama. To complete your piece, a contrasting detail is added along your V-neck and the sleeves are folded to give it that 80s shoulder pad look.

Sizing:

Measure yourself at the widest part of your bust and choose your size accordingly. If you are between sizes, I recommend you choose the larger one. When in doubt, size up!

A - 71-76 cm (28-30 in)
B - 81-86 cm (32-34 in)
C - 92-97 cm (36-38 in)
D - 102-107 cm (40-42 in)
E - 112-117 cm (44-46 in)
F - 122-127 cm (48-50 in)
G - 132-137 cm (52-54 in)
H - 142-147 cm (56-58 in)

The garment has approx. 0-5 cm (0-2 in) of positive ease.

This pattern has been written and tested for 6 sizes (A-E and H). Three additional sizes (F,G and I 152-158 cm/60-62 in) were written but not tested. Gauge:

10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) square = 13 sts x 19 rows in stockinette in the round with 6mm (US 10) needles (after blocking)

Suggested Needles:

5.5mm (US 9) & 6mm (US 10) circular knitting needles with a 60/80/100 cm (24/32/40 in) cord (cord length will depend on bust circumference)

Any bulky weight yarn. The following are estimates of the yardage (in meters) needed by size.

A - 300m main color + 65m contrast color
B - 330m main color + 75m contrast color
C - 360m main color + 85m contrast color
D - 390m main color + 95m contrast color
E - 420m main color + 100m contrast color
F - 450m main color + 110m contrast color
G - 470m main color + 120m contrast color
H - 500m main color + 130m contrast color
