The Life of Ryley
March 3rd 2022
All funds raised from the sales of my patterns will be donated to the International Red Cross to help the Ukraine!
ALL prices have been raised to $5.00 US, even patterns which normally I have offered for free, and will remain at that price point until Putin and his minions GTF out of Ukraine.
#The Life of Ryley (Riley) or Living the Life of Ryley refers to an old saying that means to live an easy and pleasant life. The name Ryley/Riley is of Irish and Gaelic origin and means Valiant and Courageous.
This luscious scarf was made with my youngest son, Ryley, in mind. This design is 100% reversible and with a few techniques that are sure to keep you interested through out the knitting process! Moss stitch borders, Knit 1 below rib, a center Chevron panel and all framed in tidy I-cord edges…
Materials:
150 to 250 grams DK to light aran weight cashmere or any smooth yarn that works well with textured stitches. (I Navajo Plied , held a heavy lace weight x’s 3, for a DK weight for the dark grey version. The Olive scarf was made with Piuma cashmere and is more of an worsted/light aran weight. Both yarns were purchased at Colourmart2.com, home of beautiful luxury remainder yarns!) 450 to 550 yards.
Suitable size circular needles for your yarn.
Darning needle.
Gauge:
22 to 24 stitches = 4”/10cm over pattern.
Gauge is not critical, it is a scarf, but my 2 prototypes ended up approx. 7” to 8” wide and 64” to 68” long. Width can easily be adjusted to your needs by adding or subtracting the number of Moss stitches on the borders for width and knitting to your desired length. (More or less yarn may be required.)
Printer friendly pattern: Charted instructions are on page 2, written instructions on page 3 and 4 and more pictures and notes on page 5. (Please have a look at the notes, there might be somethings of interest to you?) Please print only the pages that you need!
