I am a huge geek! As any respectable geek knows, The Hobbit was (and is) a big deal. In preparation for The Battle of the Five Armies, I made myself this hat. The green and gold colors remind me of the color scheme in the films’ depiction of Erabor. The three symbols are what the film’s designers used for Fili, Kili, and Thorin: The Line of Durin.

The two color stranding technique used is simple enough for knitters that are just beginning colorwork while still being engaging enough for an experienced knitter. The garment will provide warmth and fold to fit easily in a coat pocket.
