- The design was inspired by folk crafts of my home country. Traditionally, these dolls were made with pieces of cloths, usually linen. First, a little sac was shaped and stuffed with grains to provide weight and balance for the doll. Then, the fabric pieces were wrapped and folded around and over the sac to shape the body and style the garment. Also, these dolls never had face details since people believed this would protect their owners from evil spirits.
Please note that 3 types of yarn and 3 hook sizes are used to make a doll: sport weight cotton and 2.5mm hook for the head and the body, lace weight cotton and 2mm hook for the apron, and lace weight wool and 3.5mm hook for the shawl. However, the garment pieces are quite easy to adjust to fit your doll. Depending on the piece, you will need only about 5-15 grams of yarn.
