The Loch
“The Loch”
This traditional shaped shawl has been created in collaboration with Loch Ness Knitting who creates the most gorgeous palate of yarn colours by using recycled waste materials, such as coffee grinds, avocado skins and orange peel from the local café in Loch Ness.
The colours shown here come from her Café Collection which is produced all year round, though she also has a seasonal collection produced from natural plant dyes collected from a local woodland, which ever you choose to use, will produce a timeless shawl that will give many years of pleasure.
This pattern, as well as being available to purchase separately, is available as part of a kit for the shawl through the Loch Ness Shop or online through her website.
The stitch pattern I have created represents the landscape around the loch, whilst the blue section depicts the gentle ripples on the waters surface of the loch.
It’s a style that’s perfect for any Outlander or fan of Scotland, wanting to create a piece that holds memories of a remarkable location in the Scottish Highlands.
The stitches required are knit, purl, a yarn over, slipped stitches, and increasing left and right. All instructions are included in the pattern.
It’s been inspired by my love of Outlander, the Scottish Highlands and historical clothing and textiles.
