The love blanket
The love blanket - for the love of Sanne
This blanket will always have a very special place in my heart, as it is made for and dedicated to one of my dearest friends Sanne, who left this world in October 2024. I will always keep her in the deepest place of my heart, and every stitch is filled with love for her.
The blanket is made using the overlay mosaic crochet technique with elements of tapestry crochet, as you will be carrying yarn in all even rows. It might look difficult, but consists of only sc and dc, so no intricate technique involved.
The pattern includes my tutorial on how to do overlay mosaic with tapestry elements, and also a tutorial on how to hide all your ends with a clever double border. Both tutorial are with written instructions and lots of pictures to help you learn this technique.
In the pattern I also give a thorough explanation on how to read the chart, and the first 9 rows of the pattern is written out, to help you get started. Reading a mosaic chart is really simple, so don’t be scared of it.
Pattern comes as a full chart suitable for viewing on a tablet or computer, and as charts for printing, if you prefer that.
Suggested yarn:
- 8 x Scheepjes whirlette 100g/455m, color 851/Liquorice.
- 5 x Scheepjes whirlette 100g/455m, color 860/ice.
- 2 x Scheepjes whirl 215g/1000m, color 759/Jumpin jelly.
For my version I have used Scheepjes whirl and whirlette, but you can use any yarn you desire. If you use a thicker yarn, prepare for the blanket to turn out quite big though.
