I was taught to crochet by my great-grandmother, Memaw Margaret, my Nana, and my sister. I was so little I don’t even remember learning. Memaw Margaret also taught me how to cross-stitch and embroider. She created intricate doilies out of tiny crochet thread, embroidered Holly Hobby cup towels, and latch-hooked thick wall rugs. I remember her afghans (blankets) made with granny squares decorating her tiny apartment. Her home was a magical place where you never got bored and there was always something interesting to look at.
