This pattern was designed by myself but written and very carefully test knit by: http://www.ravelry.com/people/Wendys-Boutique. In an attempt to provide a lovely friend with a bonnet she wished, I designed the prototype for The Marianna Baby Bonnet. Wendy Gilbert very kindly wrote it up.

First we used approximately 53 grams of worsted weight (#4) yarn over size 7 or 4.5 needles. The pattern as written in US terms gave us a bonnet that would fit a 3-6 month old. However, Wendy ALSO knit this pattern in a DK weight yarn using 3.75 mm needles using 28 grams of yarn. (you can find the pattern in UK terms on her page)

You will need ribbon to tie the bonnet, through the eyelet neckband, it also looks lovely with ribbon roses or other embellishments.

The pattern is easily adjustable using larger or smaller needles and or yarns. It would probably work out very well in a fingering weight yarn.

The design is made to be very sweet yet quite sturdy as it has two picot hems. One at the front of the bonnet and one just before the crown shaping. The hems help the bonnet keep its shape.
