The Mary Ellen Carter is a triangle shawl inspired by the song “The Mary Ellen Carter” by Canadian folk artist Stan Rogers. It’s an inspirational sea shanty about the crew of a sunken ship working to salvage her from the bottom of the sea. This shawl features a different stitch in each section, which alternate contrasting colors with the main color forming garter ridges between each different stitch. This is a great project to get familiar with many different stitches and techniques, including slipped stitches, bobbles, and eyelets.
