The Melba Beanie
The Melba Beanie has an interesting story to it’s naming. This beanie was a collaboration between myself and the talented Michelle of Dyeing To Knit WA. Michelle supplied a beautiful DK yarn in the ‘Peach Melba’ colourway and, as I was knitting it up, I told her the colour reminded me of scones with jam and cream. This got to chatting about devonshire tea, and the amazing places to get delicious scones in Melbourne and Victoria. And so the beanie was named, after both the original colourway of this design and after Coombe Estate where the opera singer Dame Nellie Melba once resided - I am assured there is an amazing high tea to be had, and everyone knows high tea isn’t complete without scones with jam and cream!
