This pattern is named after the Argentinian singer and actor Tita Merello. While I was working on this pattern, which I initially developed as a swatch, I was listening to Tita Merello’s songs. The milonga song “Se dice de mi”, specially spoke to me and I decided to name the pattern after her.
This neck warmer is a beginner’s brioche project with syncopation of brioche stitches after two-color brioche is fully understood and practiced for several rows. The pattern is written in detail and the syncopation section is written row by row, so it is easy to follow how the stitches change the position. The Merello can be finished by using and I-cord bind off with a buttonhole and a matching attached I-cord added to the cast on. Both options are explained step by step. The two buttonholes add an interesting and decorative detail to the pattern.
The pattern requires about 75 - 85 yards of worsted yarn in two contrasting colors, so it can be knitted with yarn leftovers or make it a stash buster and use different colors throughout! The final size is 7 inches wide by 27 inches length, which could be easily adapted by knitting more rows in the end section.
