The Merry Maidens Cowl
Knitted Cowl
Autumn has arrived and I have loved working with the newly launched ‘Folklore’ range. The yarn can be purchased in both 4 ply and DK from Blacker Yarns.
My new Anniversary pattern, has been made by selecting colours to match the current season and using a total of four different colours of 4 ply. (There is also a separate pattern available to purchase for matching Mittens).
This was a beautiful yarn to work with and following a colour chart made knitting really interesting plus, fast results, and a sense of achievement.
The Cowl is double thickness and produces a neat and tidy garment with extra warmth for cold wintery days.
So, to sum up all the goods points… It’s seasonal, it’s stylish, and so much fun! What more could you want from a knitting pattern…
As I have said in the pattern, always do your Tension Square and adjust as stated, if need be.
Yarn: For the best results, I have recommend the really beautiful Blacker Yarns ‘Folklore’ Pure Wool
Breed: Grey Shetland, Cream English Merino & Light Grey North Ronaldsay.
Ball/Skein Length: c.100g c.350m (c.380yds)
Finish (Woollen or Worsted): Woollen
Handle: Fine
Blacker Yarns specialise in breed specific British Wool yarn all spun and processed in Cornwall and consist of 100% natural fibres.
The pattern could be knitted with other 4-ply wool, but do your test square first to ensure you are going to have enough yarn.
The pattern uses:
400g of 4-ply yarn (100% Wool) (4 x 100g - different colours)
There will also be enough wool left to make 2 sets of Mittens (BYN0005)
You will also need 2 stitch markers, 3 rubber bands, Scissors, Crochet Hook & some spare wool (just enough to crochet a chain for casting on) and a wool needle for grafting/finishing.
