The Midwinter Fairy
The Midwinter Fairy is a decorative doll approx. 35 cms in length. She has floppy limbs and needs something to lean her back against to be able to sit upright. Sit her down in a christmas wreath hanging against the wall, for instance.
ATTENTION: Small easily removed materials and sewing pins are used in the making of the fairy. She is NOT A CHILDREN’S TOY !!!
The Midwinter Fairy’s body is partly braided, partly knotted, and can be made by beginners.
The Midwinter Fairy’s dress is partly crochet, partly knit, and to make it you will need intermediate knitting and crochet skills.
The 16 page pattern provides step by step written instructions, written and charted knitting instructions, as well as helpful how-to information and schematics and pictures to illustrate key points.
To make the Midwinter Fairy you will need:
- 50 gr fingering weight acrylic/wool to make the body
- small amount of fingering weight mercerized cotton to make the bodice
- small amounts of DK yarns in white, red and green for the collar, hair and skirt
- small amount of ecru ‘hairy fur’ yarn
- small amount of gold colored polyester (metallic) yarn
- small amount of red lace weight yarn
- a styrofoam ball, 5 cms diameter
- beads for the eyes, dress and magic wand
- 60 cms of very fine metal wire
- glass head sewing pins in 3 colors
You will also need a cable needle, dressmaker’s centimeter, scissors, and sewing thread and needles.
