The Milkshake Bears
I have always been a huge fan of the shape of the Jean Greenhowe teddy bear patterns, however, I prefer crochet to knit.
I could not find a crochet pattern for a small teddy bear with a shape that appealed to me in the same way that Jean’s bears do, so I fiddled with shapes until I came as close as I think I’m ever going to get!
The Milkshake Bears are all of the colours of classic milkshake flavours - Chocolate, Caramel, Vanilla, Strawberry, Banana and Spearmint…but you can make your bear in any colour that you wish!
The finished bear is 8cm (just over 3in) when sitting. I have sewn the limbs in place, but you can choose to have your bear standing or have the limbs jointed and movable. You can up-size your bear by using a larger hook and thicker yarn or go even smaller with a small hook and embroidery or crochet thread.
I have used glass beads for the eyes. You can choose to stitch them on with embroidery thread or yarn or use safety eyes (if they are available in such a small size) if you are making your bears for young children to play with.
Happy bear making!
