Mistral is the name of strong, cold, dry and squally northerly wind that blows offshore with great frequency along the Mediterranean coast over some part of Europe. The airstream that feeds the Mistral is commonly derived from polar air of maritime origin.

Magnifique ice-cold color of the yarn from which the sweater is knitted, gives it the name.

The Mistral Sweater is worked seamlessly from the
top down. First the neck rib are knitted in round, then some German Short Rows are worked back and forth to create a higher back neck and then the round- yoke is worked top down to sleeve separation. Then the sleeve stitches are placed on hold, then the body is worked in rounds down to the hem. Some strips are shown in contrasting color - strips are added jogless and with no-cut yarn. Sleeves are worked top down to the cuffs last.
The Mistral Sweater shown on pictures are knitted in a ice-cold color( as main-color) but in warm and slightly rustic yarn, and with stripes in warmer color.

The design of the Mistral Sweater is also suitable for knitting beginners who wants to familiarize themselves with this technique.
