The Mushroom Napkin Ring
The Mushroom Napkin Ring from THE NATURE COLLECTION
Bringing a bit of nature indoors.
A little about mushrooms:
Mushrooms have been used in foods and medicinally for thousands of years. Continuing to grow in popularity in and out of the kitchen, mushrooms “are neither a plant or animal food. They are a type of fungus that contains a substance called ergosterol, similar in structure to cholesterol in animals. Ergosterol can be transformed into vitamin D with exposure to ultraviolet light. Mushrooms vary in appearance with more than 10,000 known types, but generally they are distinguished by a stem, fleshy rounded cap, and gills underneath the cap.”
About the pattern:
This napkin ring is knit sideways, featuring a mushroom design throughout and a brown border around the openings of the ring. There is one seam along the back that helps when aligning the table setting. Feel free to set the napkin ring down onto the back seam to have a consistently placed table setting throughout.
To allow for a bit of structure to the project, the napkin ring is designed with an i-cord edge at both openings of the ring. This makes for an easier application and removal of the ring time after time. We also opted for more of a larger width to display the mushrooms clearly throughout the entire pattern. This napkin ring measures 2” x 8” / 5.08 cm x 20.32 cm, allowing enough of a surface to display the design and be functional.
