UPDATE 2/12/21
The Nerstrand Knit Hat is getting an upgrade! Now includes FOUR different charts for adding a 5 round section of colorwork to your hats. This is a great way to play with colorwork without having to figure out what yarns to match. Simply use contrasting sections of yarn in the ONE skein of Lion Brand Scarfie. Also includes a more refined decrease and the stitch counts for the decrease.

If you haven’t tried on a double brim knit hat yet you are in for a treat when you finish the Nerstrand Knit Hat! Boys, girls, men, and women will love it!

This is the hat I recommend for anyone who wants a warm AND comfortable hat. The number of cast ons for a 8 year old is the same for an adult so this is a hat you don’t have to have a specific head measurement to be confident that it will fit.

This pattern calls for a bulky yarn which makes it a great pattern for using all that Scarfie yarn in your stash. You can achieve so many different color combinations without ever having to cut the yarn.

Loops and Threads Barcelona is another GREAT yarn to use with this pattern because the way the colors change gradually. The best part is that you can make TWO hats from one skin of Scarfie or Barcelona!

LOTS of photos are included so you can see exactly what your hat should look like at each step.

This pattern uses knit and k2tog stitches so is beginner friendly. There is a connection row that can be more challenging, but I include a link to a video that will show you exactly how to connect your brim.

Take your hats to the next level:
