The Never Forget Rose
This pattern was designed to help us to remember those people who have left the world a better place. Although I designed it for Memorial Day (USA), any color would work for a special someone that you love, appreciate, admire, and respect. In the poem, the word “citizen” could be changed to many things - example: for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day the phrase could be changed to - “a child you’d be proud to see”, or “a daughter (or son) you’d be proud to see”. To honor a friend the word could be changed to “friend”, as well as for a “husband (or wife)” you’d be proud to see. This is an easy pattern using only chain and double crochet stitches. For the poppy single crochet stitches were also used in addition to double crochet. A larger hook will produce a larger rose, as well as a larger poppy. Thanks to the kindness of a ravelry friend I realized that I forgot to add the yardage for the rose. If using a G hook, 7 1/2 yards is plenty. For the Poppy, it will be a little less.
