The Newporter Shawlette
Colorful, vibrant, and as fun as a sunny day at the beach, The Newporter Shawlette is a striped asymmetrical accessory knit on the bias sideways entirely in garter stitch. Although it is knit using a German short row technique, you do not have to have any previous experience knitting in this style since full written instructions, video help links, and row counts are included within the pattern. I knit it using 4 colors in worsted weight yarn, but this pattern would also work using DK or sport weight yarn. Simply choose 4 coordinating and/or contrasting colors and cast on. Color A used 130 yards, Color B used 108 yards, Color C used 176 yards, and Color D used 95 yards. Total yarn yardage for the shawlette was about 500 yards. My blocked shawl is 6 foot 2 inches on the longest side, and in 20 ½ inches in depth at its deepest point.
