The Nutcracker
Materials:
You will need yarn, 20.00 mm safety eyes, 4.25 mm crochet hook, tapestry needle, scissors, black felt, white felt, small wire brush for creating the hair, and poly-fill for stuffing.
Let’s Talk Yarn!
You will be using #4 worsted weight yarn for this project. Use any brand or color you desire! Colors are totally up to you! This is a very customizable project. I used 120 yards of Red Heart Super Saver in the color cherry red. I used 15 yards of Red Heart Super saver in the color buff for the face and hands. You will need 20 yards of Red Heat Super Saver Black. I used 25 yards of Red Heart Super Saver in White. For the silver I used Gazzal Rock n Roll Yarn.
Final Measurement:
Your finished nutcracker will measure 19 inches tall. Your finished nutcracker will measure 9 inches wide.
Gauge:
7 sc stitches by 7 rows = 2 inches! Gauge is not extremely important for this pattern. You just want your stitches to be tight enough that poly-fill won’t poke out!
Abbreviations:
-Ch: chain
-Sl st: slip stitch
-Sc: single crochet
-Inc: increase
-Dec: decrease
Notes:
This would be considered an intermediate skill level pattern. It is made entirely by single crochet, but you must have a clear understanding of single crochet increase/decrease as well as color work/tapestry crochet!
