ABOUT THIS DESIGN
Pockets and cable motifs add interest to this steeked cardigan. Short row shaping allows the collar to sit nice and high on the neck and it is finished with a 2x2 rib button band with a neat i-cord edge. The raglan shoulder decreases stop at the back panel for all sizes so that the cable charts are simple for anyone to knit without complicated shaping within the cabled motifs.

This sweater is intended to be worn with approximately 0-4” of positive ease. Sample shown in Size 32, worn with 2” of positive ease.

GAUGE
16 stitches and 24 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch, after blocking. Harrisville Designs WATERshed yarn does stretch when blocked - please block your swatch for an accurate measure.

NEEDLES
Size A (for Ribbing) suggested needle:
US 5 | 3.75mm, 32” or larger circular needle

Size B (for Main Fabric) suggested needle: US 7 | 4.5mm, 32” or larger circular needles

MATERIALS
450 (500, 560, 625) (700, 775, 865, 965)g

990 (1100, 1210, 1320) (1430, 1650, 1870, 1980) yards or 905 (1006, 1106, 1207) (1308, 1509, 1710, 1811) meters of worsted weight, preferably woolen spun yarn

Sample made with Harrisville Designs WATERshed yarn (100% Pure Virgin Wool; 110 yards / 50g) in the color Stonewall

10x 9mm buttons, or your preferred size and quantity of buttons, and a sturdy yarn for attaching buttons onto your finished garment.

ADDITIONAL TOOLS
Stitch markers (6), cable needle, waste yarn, a blunt tapestry needle, and needle and thread to attach buttons

CONSTRUCTION NOTES
Beginning with 2x2 Rib, the body and sleeves are knit from the bottom up
One row of cables are added for interest to blend ribbing into stockinette
A steek (a small bridge of stitches) is used to knit this cardigan in the round
Pockets are knit separately and joined while working the body of the sweater
Once body and sleeves are joined, decreases create a raglan shoulder shaping
The seamless i-cord bind off of the button band and collar gives the garment its neat and unique shape
