Pattern Details

Sizes: 20(21, 22, 23, 24)”/50(53,56, 58, 61) cm head circumference

Gauge: 30 stitches and 40 rows per 4” (10 cm) with fingering weight yarn in (k1, p1) OR (k2, p2) ribbing.

Designer’s note: Stitch gauge is taken when stretched. Keep in mind, the way your swatch stretches is how your Ball-aclava will stretch over your head. If you don’t like the stretch of your swatch you will need to adjust your needles or yarn.

Needles: (1) 32” if using Magic Loop Method OR (1) 16” set of circular needles in size needed to achieve gauge listed above (suggested size: US 2/2.75 mm).

Designer’s note: Everyone knits differently, so I HIGHLY recommend you do a gauge swatch before starting your Ball-aclava to ensure that your gauge is correct for the pattern. You may prefer going up/down in needle sizes depending on your tension and the finished fabric of your swatch.

Yardage: One ball of sock yarn/fingering weight yarn (approximately 434 yds), OR any other yarn that knits up to suggested gauge.

Other notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, scrap yarn/stitch holder, tape measure and scissors.

Final measurements:

Head circumference: 20(21, 22, 23, 24)”/50(53, 56, 58, 61) cm

Neckband circumference: 16(16.5, 17, 17.5, 18)”/41(42, 43, 44, 45) cm

Face opening: 24(25, 26, 27.5, 28.5)”/61(63, 66, 70, 72) cm
