In the summer of 2012 I went with my mom and my kid to a yarn store. Of all the yarns that I saw and wanted to buy I finally picked up a single skein of fingering weight yarn named Heritage by Cascade Yarns. I had no idea what I would use the yarn for, I just liked the colors.
Over the years I would create an owl pattern. I think Miranda was first. At some point I picked up the skein of yarn and knitted my first owl from it. I created another owl pattern, this time it was Ollie, the owlet. I used the skein of yarn and knitted Ollie as well. My third owl pattern was Helga, and then in January of 2018 I created Otto. I used the skein of yarn and knitted Otto, and Helga. It was four tiny owls and the skein of yarn had still plenty of leftovers.
Two of my friends saw the photo of the owl gang on my FB page and asked me for Miranda owl. I knitted two Miranda owls and the skein of yarn still had some leftover. I started another owl, this time Ollie and finished her up while on vacation. I gave her away, so she is missing from the whole gang picture. I started eight owl and finished another Ollie. In the owl gang picture, you can still see a tiny amount of yarn that is waiting to be used for another owl.

Finished toys size:
Miranda: Approximately 6.25” (16 cm) tall.
Ollie, the owlet: Approximately 3.5” (9 cm) tall.
Helga: Approximately 4.5” (11.5 cm) tall.
Otto: Approximately 4” (10 cm) tall.

This pattern has direction for all four owls, using one skein of sock yarn.
Variety of knitting techniques are used, such as knitting in the rounds, seed stitch, purl in the round, Kitchener stitch, 3 needles bind off, picking up stitches.
